What is contact lens?
Contact lens is alternative solution for glasses. It is use for refractive defect. They are also using for cosmetic and treatment.
Contact lens can be shaped such as glasses basis. Myopia and hypermetropical problems fixed with contact lens that related to cornea shape and diopter value. Disordered cornea shape caused astigmatism so patients have to wear hard contact lens or special made (toric) soft lens. Patients have to use same diopter lens if their diopter value is low. Patient who have high myopia they should use contact lens diopter less than it is supposed to be and patients who have hypermetropia they should use contact lens diopter higher than it is supposed to be.
1. Hard Lens (Permeable gas)
It is help to pass oxygen through to eye that is why it is called permeable hard lens. There are using more often than hard lens because of this specialty. It is use on keratoconus and astigmatism treatment.
2. Soft Lens
There are many types of soft lens. Disposable lens for 1 day use, disposable lens for 1 mount use, disposable lens for 3 mounts use, disposable lens for 1 year, monthly lens for 1 mount use, biofocal lens and colored lens. There are comfortable to use and it is fixed refraction problems.
Advantages of lens instead of glasses.
- Lens shows objects same size
- Lens view field are larger than glasses. Glasses side view is weaker than contact lens.
- There is no hedge on contact lens. Patients feel frame and edge of glass all the time.
- There is no evaporation on contact lens.
- Contact lens do not interrupt patient during sports activities.
- Patients who wear contact lens can use sunglasses.
- Patients do not feel heaviness on their face with contact lens like glasses.
FEATURES OF CONTACT LENS
Contact lens cause problem if it does not fit on your eye. Contact lens should buy after doctor examination even though it is colored lens. Doctors should determinate accurate diameter, radius and type of contact lens in examination. Our center provides trial lens patient does not have any experience of using contact lens to see if patient is allegeable for contact lens. When patient learned how to use contact lens our center gave contact lens, holding case, solutions, and Manuel.
INFORMATION ABOUT USING CONTACT LENS WITHOUT PROBLEM.
- Patient should use contact lens curtain time given by doctor.
- Patient should not pass expiration date even though feels comfortable with lens.
- Patient should go to routine eye examination.
- Patient should clean, disinfect and rinse every time they take them out.
- Do not use solution more than once. Every time change the solution.
- Do not share lens with someone else.
- Do not contact lens with aerosol and spray.
- Do not put make up inside of eyelid and try to avoid using eye drop.
- Do not touch top of solution bottle with your finger or contact lens.
