WHAT IS LASER FOR EYE?

The most common form of Laser treatment in the world is Lasic treatment. In this method, eyes are anesthetized by a drop and an operculum is opened at the cornea layer of the eye. When the eye disorder is corrected with treatment with laser rays, the operculum is closed. For each eye the operation lasts approximately for 4-5 minutes. During the operation patient does not feel any pain and the eyes are treated without bandage. The person returns normal life the next day after treatment.

LAZER TREATMENT OPTIONS

Superficial Treatment (PRK-LASEK)

• For PRK method corneal epithelium as the foremost transparent layer of the eye is removed and laser is applied. Epithelium layer is self-healed in five minutes.
• For LASEK method, corneal epithelium as the foremost transparent layer of the eye is lifted by softening with diluted alcohol and laser is applied to the part under it. Then epithelium is placed to its former position again. Healing takes place in three days.
• LASİK it is a method of correcting of visual defect by lifting an operculum from cornea tissue by a mechanical knife and applying Excimer Laser rays to the tissue under the operculum.

İLASIK

It is a lasik method which is a combination of intraLase laser technology and Advanced CustomVue as individual Excimer Laser treatment.

WHICH ONE SHOULD I CHOOSE AMONG ILASIK - PRK - LASEK METHODS?

The world’s most commonly preferred method and the most comfortable for the patient is ILASIK. For the eyes inappropriate to ILASIK treatment, one of the surface ablation methods (LASEK-PRK) can be chosen. Disadvantage of this treatment is that the healing time is longer than ILASIK treatment.

STEP 1: MEASURING YOUR PERSONAL VISION DYNAMICS (WAVEFRONT MEASUREMENT)

The first step in ILASIK application is to determine the personal vision characteristics as the results of some tests that Wavescan technology is also used. Wavescan system makes three-dimensional mapping of your visual defects. Each eye is different than another like fingerprint. Therefore, each laser treatment should be planned specially according to the eye and the person. The most successful results are thus obtained. Later Advanced CustomVue program designs your special personal eye treatment by using data from this mapping. Consequently laser rays can be programmed by taking into account of the finer details in your eye.

STEP 2: Creating FLAP with intraLase

In ILASIK application, a technology named intraLase is used. For intraLase method, process of creating flap at the transparent part of the eye like the watch glass is realized under computer control without knife and with only laser rays. In intraLase researches among the patients that an intraLase is applied to one eye and knife method is applied to another eye, it is observed that patients declared that intraLase applied eyes are more satisfactory than the other eyes.

Now your vision can be corrected by Advanced CustomVue as the last step of ILASIK application. In this application, minimum rotation movement of the eye can be observed and detected with focusing technology developed by NASA and laser instrument is locked to the eye and it is provided that therapy is finished as planned without any error.
