Prof. Suphi ACAR

Prof. Suphi Acar werd in 1953 geboren in Amasya. In 1970 begon hij aan de Faculteit Geneeskunde van de Universiteit van Ankara en studeerde in 1976 af. In 1981 begon hij aan zijn specialisatieopleiding in de oogheelkunde aan het GATA Onderwijs- en Onderzoeksziekenhuis in Ankara en werd in 1985 oogarts.

Van 1985 tot 1991 werkte hij als oogarts in het ziekenhuis van Merzifon. Tussen 1991 en 1995 werkte hij als universitair docent, en tussen 1995 en 1998 als hoofddocent aan het GATA Onderwijs- en Onderzoeksziekenhuis in Haydarpaşa. Van 1998 tot 2000 was hij oprichtend docent aan de Yeditepe Universiteit, afdeling Oogheelkunde. Van 2000 tot 2001 was hij hoogleraar oogheelkunde aan dezelfde universiteit. Tussen 2001 en 2012 was hij hoofd van de kliniek voor oogheelkunde aan het Haydarpaşa Numune Onderwijs- en Onderzoeksziekenhuis, en tussen 2001 en 2004 was hij tevens hoofdarts van het ziekenhuis. Sinds 2016 is hij werkzaam in het Batıgöz Medisch Centrum Altunizade – Istanboel.

Prof. Suphi Acar is gespecialiseerd in hoornvlies, cataract- en refractieve chirurgie, contactlenzen en glaucoom. Hij is lid van de Europese Vereniging voor Cataract- en Refractieve Chirurgen. Daarnaast is hij actief lid van de Turkse Oogheelkundige Vereniging in de eenheden voor hoornvlies en oculaire oppervlakken, cataract en refractieve chirurgie, en glaucoom. Hij bezit een certificaat als oogbankbeheerder van de glaucoomeenheid.

Momenteel is hij werkzaam als oogarts bij Batıgöz Gezondheidsgroep, vestiging Altunizade – Istanboel.
